WORKSHOP     

Fifty-four teachers from all across Kolkata attended a dynamic workshop conducted by international consultant Ms Linda Crane. Ms Crane came from Australia to work with teachers in Pailan World School and today shared her expertise with teachers from invited Kolkata schools. The workshop was a resounding success and all visiting teachers stated that they had never had participated in a workshop as lively as this one. Using this momentum, Pailan World School will now conduct further workshops for invited schools so that the school can share educational ideas with other educators across West Bengal.

Some of the invited schools were: M P Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School, D A V Public School, Rama Krishna Mission School and Frank Anthony Public School.

To cap off  the productive and inspirational week  of with the renowned International Schools Consultant, Ms Linda Crane, Pailan World School conducted a remarkable workshop at the school for teachers from all over Kolkata. Over fifty teachers attended and were most enthusiastic at the quality of the program.
“Our purpose is to share our good fortune in having Linda working with us,” said Principal Mr Ken Jarman. “Schools should collaborate with one another as educators and learn from one another.”
The program consisted of three segments:
‘Literacy in the Early years’ conducted by Linda Crane
‘Developing Language across the Curriculum’ conducted by Principal Ken Jarman, and
‘Creative Writing and Ideas for Spelling’ conducted by Linda Crane. 
In the packed conference room, the teachers listened attentively, and enthusiastically joined in the activities provided. Throughout the three and a half hours of workshops, teachers remained focused and animated the whole time.
Their comments at the conclusion of the workshop reflect the enthusiasm with which they viewed their experiences. They also were wholeheartedly enthusiastic about the purposeful notes which they were able to take away. Some comments:
‘All the sessions were interesting and informative. Thank you for a wonderful workshop.’
‘Ideas and methods were beautifully explained on how encouragement can be given to children to develop their confidence in reading and writing.’
‘I enjoyed all the three sessions as they included many new things and topics put differently in a positive manner for the progress of the children.’
Many speaker at the end of the workshop returned to the same theme: “When is Pailan World School going to have another one of these? I know that my colleagues will want to come.”
There will be more and all teachers will be welcome.
