1)
South Asia Quiz.
The
visit to the Tara Bangla Studio (South Asia TV) at Salt Lake was a real eye opener
for the students and the teacher accompanying them. It was our first experience
of a line Quiz recording aptly titled "Buss for Barry".
Mr. Barry O'Brien the host for the show was a disarmingly charming man who immediately
put the young uns at ease and briefed them about the programme.
It
was a thoroughly enjoyable day where Mr O'Brien quizzed the young schools on various
subjects ranging from movies, films, pop music to the latest economic and political
troubles plaguing our country.
Our
students though too much in awe of the Quiz Master did reasonably well. They were
greatly encouraged by Barry Sir to return once more to the studio sets. At the
end of the day we all returned pepped up and raving to have another potshot at
the next Quiz programme. |

FOOD FOR THOUGHT ===================
"The Golden Rule Of Negotiating" Upon entering a negotiation one should have a
pretty clear idea, though a flexible one, of what one wants . Let's have a look
at the beauty of "YES". We have all known people who seem to to take a diabolical
delight in saying "YES". It makes people feel good which we think creates good
will and gratifies people. We also feel important that we are able to say it and
also gives a warm glow of good deed done and satisfaction of being owed a favor.
"NO" on the other hand is a mighty word. Even a small child understands the "NO",
to establish his individuality. The discovery of the concept "NO" is one of the
pivotal moments in the life of many human beings. If one is uncertain or afraid
one can just invoke the negative and nothing will be lost, expect an opportunity.
NO is a shield. There are many ways of persuading people to drop their amour
and may be the easiest is simply to allow them the opportunity to get the NO's
off their chest. People like to make a strong gesture; they need to establish
that they cannot be pushed around. Once they have made that point, they become
a great deal easier to deal with. The golden rule is neither "YES" nor "NO", but
both to be used at its best.
